Checklist for Moving to Turkey

Practical points to bear in mind when moving to a new country: documents, bills, healthcare and everyday life.
Moving to a new property or a new country involves a number of small but important tasks. The list below is intended as a general guide; we recommend that you check with the relevant authorities or your adviser to confirm which steps are necessary in your particular circumstances.
Documents: Having both physical and digital (scanned) copies of documents such as your ID card/passport, residence permit application documents (if applicable) and property title deeds to hand makes things easier.
Bills and subscriptions: It is a good idea to find out in advance how to set up services such as electricity, water, natural gas and internet in your name, and how to pay your estate or block of flats service charges.
Health: Researching healthcare facilities in your area and, where available, health insurance options in advance will help minimise delays in an emergency.
Day-to-day life: We recommend that you check the distance from your property to places you visit regularly—such as the supermarket, chemist’s and school—as well as the transport options available, before you move in.
This list serves as a general starting point; we recommend that you work with your adviser to draw up your own list of steps tailored to your personal circumstances (citizenship, family situation, employment status).
